Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services Inc. (PBCFSI) is looking for highly motivated individuals for the position of Casual Therapeutic Group Care Workers for the PBCFSI Therapeutic Group Care Facility. If you are this person, we look forward to hearing from you.

 

Under the supervision of the Therapeutic Program Supervisor, the Casual Therapeutic Group Care Worker is responsible for:

  • Being a positive role model by leading by example
  • Providing support to the youth by being nurturing and making the young people accountable for day-to-day tasks and behaviours
  • Helping keep the home and clients safe
  • Helping youth residents prepare meals and engage in other day-to-day activities that build life skills
  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care
  • Assist each individual youth to develop and maintain daily, weekly, and other long-term routines that fit within their healing and future goals.
  • Actively participating in developing house guidelines, responsibilities to support community living
  • Ensuring youth residents understand home guidelines and responsibilities
  • Promoting Wood Land Cree culture practices and language.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education and two years-experience in the provision of services in the human services industry or related group care facilities, youth care work, early childhood education, special needs youth care work.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and understanding of crisis management
  • Willingness to work as scheduled, evenings, holidays and weekends, as required
  • Must be able to do moderate reaching, bending, stooping kneeling or crouching
  • Knowledge of the Woodland Cree culture and language and the political and social objectives of First Nations generally and PBCN in particular
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a community-based organization
  • Ability to speak Cree an asset
  • Persons of First Nation ancestry are encouraged to apply
