Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services Inc. is accepting applications for one (1) Land-Based Program Manager for the PBCFSI Main Office. This is a Full Time position.  The incumbent will work out of the Prince Albert Office but will be required to travel extensively to the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation communities.

 

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Coordinating and providing a continuum of cultural and traditional knowledge and practices to PBCN communities in accordance with policies and as mandated by the Board of Directors as well as the following:

  • Developing Traditional/Cultural Support programs in consultation with the Prevention and Mental Health Departments
  • Coordinate weekly camps and events, including inviting guests and facilitators
  • Promoting traditional and cultural healing processes by providing a trauma informed approach to wellness programming and assisting staff and clients in personal growth
  • Providing traditional and cultural training to community members and subordinate staff
  • Implementing and maintaining various cultural and traditional programs where applicable
  • Actively participating in community interagency meetings as requested
  • Develop, implement and coordinate all Cultural Support programming
  • Organizing and coordinating PBCFSI Cultural Support Center events including all preparations and delegating tasks as required
  • Facilitate story-telling, teaching and healing circles
  • Maintain a flexible working schedule to ensure supervision and continuity of program.
  • Transport Clients

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, social work, health studies, child and youth work or combination of education and one to three years relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of and awareness of indigenous culture and history with emphasis on the impacts of trauma, family violence, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach
  • Knowledge of Woodland Cree language, culture and the political and social objectives of PBCN First Nation.
  • Persons of First Nation’s Ancestry are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated healthy lifestyle through role modeling
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
