Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services Inc. (PBCFSI) is looking for highly motivated individuals for the position of Casual Specialized Group Care Worker for the PBCFSI Therapeutic Group Care Facility. The supervision of the Therapeutic Program Supervisor, the Specialized Group Care Worker is responsible for:

 

  • Ensuring the effective application of all health and safety practices at the Therapeutic Group Care program.
  • Implement care plans for specialized/complex medical needs as outlined in case planning.
  • Monitoring the client’s health condition
  • Daily therapeutic programming such as physio therapy and exercise
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding (Personal Care)
  • Ensuring medical and assistive devices are maintained
  • Perform G-tube feeding daily and or other required procedures
  • Administer medication and record in the medical binder
  • Daily house keeping and sanitization
  • Being a positive role model by leading by example
  • Helping keep the home and clients safe
  • Performing other duties as required from time to time

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed a certificate in health care aide, special care aide, community services, human services, social work, and one year of related child and family services agency experience
  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care
  • Understanding of Safe Transfer Handling
  • Understanding of Muscular-skeletal Injury
  • Must be able to respond or assist in emergency situations
  • Willingness to work as scheduled, evenings and weekends, as required
  • Must be able to do moderate reaching, bending, stooping kneeling or crouching
  • Knowledge of the Woodland Cree culture and language and the political and social objectives of First Nations generally and PBCN in particular
  • Must have a valid driver´s license
  • Must be willing to undertake a drug test if requested
  • Demonstrated healthy lifestyle through role modeling
