Family Wellness Centre

What is the Family Wellness Centre?

The Family Wellness Centre (FWC) is a facility that can accommodate up to eight family members.

The FWC provides all necessities for the family during their stay at the centre.

The school age children enroll in the local community school and pre-school children can attend the community pre-school program.

The Family Wellness Centre is one component of the programs and services provided by Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services, Inc.

The FWC program provides services to families; parents with their children, who are willing to address their issues and who are willing to explore alternate choices for a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their children.

The program is adapted to meet the needs of each individual family.

The Elders provide cultural and traditional teachings.

What are the main goals of the Family Wellness Centre?

To restore traditional parenting skills

To restore bonds between parent(s) and child(ren)

To provide holistic healing using traditional and contemporary practices

How long will the family stay at the Family Wellness Centre?

The family will live at the centre for six weeks. The family members will receive counseling and other services during their six-week stay at the centre.

The admission to the Family Wellness Centre program is voluntary.

The program involves all family members from admission to case planning.

The FWC program utilizes local community resources.

Who is eligible for the program?

The program is available to Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation members residing in our Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation communities.

Where to Apply?

Parent(s) may visit their PBCFSI local office to get more information about the program or to apply. The Peter Ballantyne Child & Family Services, Inc. workers in each community office make the referral of the family to the Family Wellness Centre. An intake committee reviews the application for admission.
